Are you tired too? As I type this blog as fast as my long fingers can move…I have a Dream today! As we all across this land of cynics, haters, bigots and optimist celebrated the life and legacy of MLK. I want to know if you are tired? As we prepare to experience a celebrity-businessman and a former center-fold playmate run the country.
I must know…are you tired? I’m doing my very best to stay centered, to latch on to the dreams and aspirations that Rev Dr. MLK encouraged us to embrace in his many speeches and books? Have I become lazy and blind to the monetary scraps thrown at my feet? Have I suffered from the mere delusion of success and acceptance into a space that doesn’t expect MEE to win? After being thrown into the abyss.
I need to know…if you’re tired of the many excuses, the blatant disrespect and disregard for the human race. The buffoonery and foolishness that has captured the nation’s attention is down-right sickening! The double standards, the double talk, and irreplaceable reality that there’s still a lot of work that needs to be done.
I know you haven’t asked MEE, but I will admit that I too get tired. However, instead of complaining, sticking my head in the sand or being the little girl that cries wolf. I have made a conscientious decision to walk in my authenticity, to be bold and brave as I occupy the space that the Universe has created just for MEE.
We can never ever become complacent in our pursuit for a just and equal America. We must not ask for what rightful belongs to ALL of us. It must be demanded with the reverence many of us hold toward our religions, communities and families.
As we move about to work, school or whatever tomorrow morning, let’s not forget the sacrifices of those that have gone before us like King and the many others. Please remember that each and every one of us has something to offer this world, that’s bigger than ourselves. Call upon your strength, wisdom and conviction for a better tomorrow!
