Sweet November

Now that we have acknowledged National Author’s Day. Let’s get to another reason why I love the fall and the sweet month of November. Yesss, huntee chile, of course, it’s my born day. I remember the euphoric feelings my birthday presented as a young girl. The amount of excitement would be bursting inside my long slender frame of a body. I would pester my mother about the rare possibility of a party, maybe even a Halloween shindig? If you asked MEE, my birthday was beautifully designed to fall two days after Halloween. Which dates back at least 2,000 years ago.

According to History.com, the tradition originated with the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain, when people would light bonfires and wear costumes to ward off ghosts. In the eighth century, Pope Gregory III designated November 1 as a time to honor all saints. Soon, All Saints Day incorporated some of the traditions of Samhain. The evening before was known as All Hallows Eve, and later Halloween. Over time, Halloween evolved into a day of activities like trick-or-treating, carving jack-o-lanterns, festive gatherings, donning costumes, and eating treats (https://www.history.com/topics/halloween/history-of-halloween).

Tricks and Treats…oh mee, oh my?! This added another level of enthusiasm as I was guaranteed to have my favorite chocolates like a snicker’s bar to satisfy my sweet tooth.

Insider scope, I still love snickers, as I snicker. Corny, I know, but I just couldn’t resist. I love cake too. Well, not just any kind of cake, but specialty cakes like Red Velvet, Pound Cake, and Key lime Cake are my favs. And my sistHER Tonya ensures that I have at least one of them every year. But enough about my sweet tooth.

I just love living, I love my life and sweet November makes MEE smile even wider. For MEE, myself, and I, it’s my birthday that serves as a marker for reflection, rejuvenation, and refueling. This makes my assessment more personal and holds to the meaning of self-development. If I’m going to be adamant about serving and creating sustainable change in the world. Then it is necessary to better understand my life, my why, and the ways in which I share my love. I often remind my daughter, my scholars, and the women in the Reignite Your Dreams e-course, that the two most important days of their lives are the day they were born and the day they find out why.

Sweet November might not get your juices flowing or spark the urgency to live your dreams out loud, so you can do a thing called what you want. But if it’s not, November then ask yourself, what moves MEE forward? How do I want to share my light with those that need to see it? No matter what your answer is, we all have a responsibility to be aligned with our purpose in life. And it’s incumbent that we get to the business of creating change and leaving this world better than we found it. Everyone has a gift, a calling, and a specific talent. And everyone has a story to tell but only the libHERated narrate theirs.
